Cool Wire Sculpture of Porsche Numero Uno!

I would have this PORSCHE Numero Uno sculpture in my yard any day…!!

It rolls, steers and you can sit in her and

pretend you are shifting through the gears in your own garden.

It is based on the first 356 in 1948

and is lovingly sculpted to show the lines, with just a little bit of greenery for contrast.


Somebody spent a lot of time, and probably did it just for the love of PORSCHE ! 

When covered with vine it will be a living sculpture.

Add that one to your list of garden projects, your spouse will roll eyes for sure.

PORSCHE MUSEUM – “Colección Goméz” – Porsche Bonnet Art

19 important artists from Uruguay and Argentina, including for example Pablo Atchugarry, Rogelio Polesello and Jorge Ferreyra Basso lent Porsche bonnets their very own signature.

New special exhibition from 20 September 2011 to 8 January 2012

Stuttgart. The Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, museum is paying tribute to 24 very special works of art with a new special exhibition. The exhibits in question, which will be on public display from 20 September 2011 until 8 January 2012 are paintings from South America. However, instead of resorting to conventional art materials, Porsche 911 GT2 sports car bonnets have been pressed into service as a “canvass”. The project is the brainchild of Argentinian Jorge Gómez. As both art lover and big fan of the Porsche brand, he came up with the idea of simply combining his two biggest passions, linking two fascinating art forms in the process.

The Porsche 911 GT2 RS has been painted by the artist Daniela Boo from Argentina.

19 important artists from Uruguay and Argentina, including for example Pablo Atchugarry, Rogelio Polesello and Jorge Ferreyra Basso, accepted Gomez’s invitation to lend Porsche bonnets their very own signature and put a creative twist on them.

The work on the skin of a racing car inspired the artists to very different works, offering the beholder a great variety of styles and materials employed – from acrylic to enamel, from mosaic tiles to tyre rubber. But from time to time the works of art still fulfil their original purpose as car bonnets, because Gómez occasionally insists on fitting them on his own Porsche 911 GT2 and taking the artworks for a spin.

The work on the skin of a racing car inspired the artists to very different works, e.g. Omar Panosetti “Evita”.

The collection is now making its European debut in the Porsche museum, being exhibited against the impressive backdrop of 23,000 hp.

The Porsche 911 GT2 RS has been painted by the artist Daniela Boo from Argentina.

PORSCHE NEWS: Qualifying at Le Mans 24 Hours

“We made the most out of what was possible”

Stuttgart. The first step is taken with success. Porsche customer teams from all over Europe and the USA have secured good grid positions after the qualifying sessions for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The fastest Porsche driver, works pilot Marc Lieb (Germany), planted the Felbermayr 911 GT3 RSR on seventh in the GTE Pro class. Lieb competes for last year’s winning team with works drivers Richard Lietz (Austria) and Wolf Henzler (Germany). Four other 2011-spec 911 GT3 RSR take up the race in the GTE Pro category. In the GTE Am class, three 911 GT3 RSR from last year take off into the 79th edition of the long distance classic on Saturday at 15.00 hours from positions two, three and four.

“We’re satisfied with our preparations and are feeling confident for the race,” said two-time Le Mans winner Marc Lieb. “In the practice sessions, we managed to find a good set-up for our 911 for the challenges of this marathon and the very special, highly demanding race track.”

Richard Lietz, who has also notched up two wins at the world’s toughest automobile race, added:

“The handling of our 911 GT3 RSR is neutral and comfortable. This means that the car tends neither towards oversteer nor understeer. This works in favour of Marc, Wolf and I because our driving styles are similar.”

The crew of the #75 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR also finished the qualifying without problems. Porsche factory pilot Marco Holzer (Germany) clinched the ninth grid spot for the ProSpeed Competition squad.

“Today we worked on our race set-up,” said Holzer. “Yes, we were faster yesterday but our car was rather twitchy, and that wouldn’t have been optimal over the race distance. There are a couple of damn fast corners here in Le Mans so you need a car that you can trust. And now we have that car.”

Joining forces with the 22-year-old is Le Mans veteran Marc Goossens (Bel-gium) as well as Le Mans rookie Jaap van Lagen (Netherlands).

A damaged damper and an accident threw the schedule of the Flying Lizard Motorsports into disarray.

“Because of the faulty shock absorber we worked in the wrong direction for a long time during yesterday’s practice session,” explained Porsche works driver Joerg Bergmeister (Germany). “Then we lost time when a competitor spun and I couldn’t avoid him. The repairs were extensive. We decided to forget about turning an extra qualifying lap and instead we concentrated totally on finding a set-up.”

Grid position 14 went to Nick Tandy in the second 911 GT3 RSR fielded by Felbermayr-Proton. The Briton currently leads the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup series as well as the German Carrera Cup, but this marks his first race in Le Mans. His teammates are Abdulaziz Al Faisal from Saudi Arabia and Bryce Miller from the USA.

The French IMSA Performance Matmut squad had counted on a better grid position than 16th. Still, after team owner Raymond Narac’s accident during the first free practice, Porsche works driver Patrick Pilet, Narac and Le Mans newcomer Nicolas Armindo (all France) could only begin their set-up work this afternoon and therefore lag be-hind.

In the GTE Am sports car class, Austrian Horst Felbermayr Junior qualified the 911 GT3 RSR of Proton Competition on second place. His teammates are Horst Felber-mayr Senior and team owner Christian Ried (Germany).

Grid spot four in the GTE Am class went to Americans Seth Neiman, Darren Law and Spencer Pumpelly from the Flying Lizard Motorsports team.

Porsche’s head of motorsport, Hartmut Kristen, praised the teams’ professional preparations for the race.

“They all worked hard to find an optimal set-up. Taking the Balance of Performance into account, the teams made the most out of what was possible.”

The race gets the green light at 15.00 hours on Saturday, 11th June. Television stations Eurosport and Eurosport 2 broadcast the race alternately around the clock with 15 hours of live coverage shown on the main station, Eurosport.

Facts and figures

This is the Le Mans 24 Hours

With a grid line-up of 55 vehicles, the 24 Hours of Le Mans consists of two different sports car categories: sports prototypes and modified standard sports cars. The technical regulations of the European Le Mans Series (LMS) and the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) correspond to those of the 24 hour race. All race cars start to-gether in Le Mans; there is an overall classification and a classification for individual classes.

The four classes in Le Mans:
GTE Pro class: The most popular class of car manufacturers (formerly run as the GT2 class) is traditionally the best supported: Modified sports cars with up to 500 hp and a minimum weight of 1,245 kilograms.
GTE Am class: Like the GTE-Pro, but with the 2010-vehicle specifications. More-over, the regulations stipulate that each vehicle must have one professional driver at the most.
LMP1 class: Sports prototypes with up to 550 hp and a 900 kilogram minimum weight.
LMP2 class: Sports prototypes of around 440 hp, GT-class homologated engines and a 900 kg minimum weight.

Italian Porsche Artist – Alessandro Gedda – Cayman Skyscraper


Porsche “My passion,” he says..

Fancy painted Cayman lifted onto a building.  A crane lifts a covered Porsche with a cloth, it does a fly over one of the most beautiful buildings in Milan and then laid gently on the Terrace Downtown.The curtain falls and reveals a Porsche Cayman completely customized by the brush of Alessandro Gedda.  The man seems to be a perpetual motion machine. Italian artist Alessandro Gedda radiates a dynamic energy that finds expression in his brilliantly hued, powerful paintings.

With his zest for art, photography, and design, Gedda has gained an international reputation. His works have been exhibited in Rome and Milan and will be shown in Monaco, New York, Miami, and Moscow this year alone. One of the dominating themes of his work:

Porsche. “My passion,” he says.

A passion the forty-year-old Gedda is not content to express solely in his art: Last year, he pursued it for 50,000 kilometers (about 35,000 miles) on real-life roads. His current love is a 911 Carrera 4 in Seal Gray. Che bella macchina, as the Italians like to say. Gedda says he soaks up the various impressions he gains on these drives, unfiltered, so to speak, to later capture them on canvas. These fleeting impressions range from the typical anarchy of an Italian roundabout to a speedy highway jaunt to a stop by the side of beautiful Lake Como.

Gedda lives only about ten miles from Lake Como, in a sixteenth-century manor house in Appiano Gentile.

“I only keep a few of my canvases at home,” he says. “The others are in private collections. Two were recently bought by American gallery owners. Actually, when I think about it, selling one of my pictures is always a highly emotional experience. It means parting with one of your creations. It will travel new roads without you—but it carries your mark out into the world, the mark of passion.”

How did it all start?

“I was six years old, and we were living on a country estate in Tuscany. Friends of my father would often drop by before taking part in a rally on the island of Elba. And there was this one car that caught my fancy more than anything else,” Gedda says. “A Porsche. I especially remember the big headlights and the inimitable sound. I drew a picture of it—and from that moment, I knew I wanted to own a Porsche myself one day.”

Just one Porsche? Actually… no.

Gedda’s current Porsche is his fourth. He started out with a 911 SC 3.0, then he fell in with a 911 RS, then he set his sights on a 911 Carrera, before ultimately falling for his current “baby.”

Gedda’s relationship with his Porsches is a close one. He even talks to them. He remembers how he once got up early so he could have a heart-to heart with his 911 RS and beseech it to climb the Cisa Pass “like only this 911 could.” The pass crosses the Apennines to link the Emilia-Romagna region with Tuscany.

“The Porsche replied in its own language, the musical tones of its flat-six engine.”

Talking to your car sounds a little crazy?

Well, maybe this kind of dialogue is less surprising when one considers that Gedda studied communications in New York City, and for the past thirteen years has headed an agency devoted to communications in the broadest sense of the term.

Alessandro Gedda has always liked to test limits, including his own—whether it’s parachuting (when he was with the police in the 1980s), deep-sea diving, or pursuing his passion for Porsche. In that respect, his current pet project fits the bill perfectly. It seems space will be getting a little tight in his studio soon. Besides his large canvases, Gedda will have to make room for a Porsche 356. He plans to restore the vintage machine—in 356 days, to be precise.
