GIVEAWAY: Starting off the 2012 American Le Mans racing season, Falken Tire is giving away the grand prize of a brand new 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera.

Yes, you may choose the color!

At the 12 Hours of Sebring on March 17th, Team Falken Tire has taken delivery of a brand new 2012 Porsche GT3 RSR racecar chassis and is prepared to take a leading role in the demanding GT class of the American Le Mans Series 2012.

Veteran Drivers Wolf Henzler and Bryan Sellers will return to pilot the car.  The veteran duo secured two wins for Team Falken in last year’s series, at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and the Baltimore Grand Prix. The Porsche racecar runs on Azenis race slicks.

Falken Tire, a leader in high performance tire technology for cars and trucks, will launch its largest social media campaign ever, focusing on the Azenis product line, and culminating in an aggressive giveaway contest featuring a brand new 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera as the featured Grand Prize.  The all new chassis of 2012 Porsche 911 is commonly referred to by enthusiasts as the 991, and is arguably one of the hottest supercars around the globe today.

The contest will get its biggest boost over the ALMS 12 Hours of Sebring race weekend March 16-18, with the release of a new Falken television commercial on Sunday, the 18th, which will promote the Azenis tire line, its motorsports lineage, and a social media tie-in with Facebook and the popular CityVille simulation and social network game.

Reaching more than 48 million monthly users, CityVille has generated worldwide attention.  By entering the game through Facebook, players will compete on a Falken-branded racetrack and have an opportunity to earn a Falken themed racecar

Andrew Hoit, Falken Vice President of Marketing said that

“this is one of the largest promotions online”,

and if Falken Tire can engage Cityville’s 48 million monthly users in addition to their own 381,462 likes, it would be a huge gain for the company in terms of exposure. The competition is off to a good start with the post announcing the giveaways on Facebook garnering 4,248 likes in just 12 hours.

The competition is part of a year-long social media campaign for Falken Tire, and the Porsche giveaway is only open to residents of the US.

Co.Design And Porsche Bring You The $20,000 Next Design Challenge

Co.Design And Porsche Bring You The $20,000 Next Design Challenge

THINK YOU CAN DESIGN SOMETHING AMAZING INSPIRED BY THE PORSCHE 911?

IF SO, YOU MIGHT WIN A 911 FOR A YEAR, OR $20,000.

Design competitions are a dime a dozen, so it’s hard to create something that stands out and piques the creative interest of talented designers.

But Co.Design thinks they’ve done just that. Today, with great enthusiasm, they’re announcing the Porsche Next Design Challenge.

The winner stands to get a very nice prize indeed: A one-year lease on a brand-new Porsche 911, or a cash-equivalent of $20,000.

The challenge for you: Design an object smaller than a living room and bigger than a purse, which references three design elements taken from Porsche 911s of the past or present. (But not a car!)

Your work will be judged by two design luminaries: Dror Benshetrit, who has created products for everyone from Cappellini to Target, and Jens Martin Skibsted, founder of Biomega and the designer behind Puma’s superb line of city bikes. (The third judge will be yours truly.)

Far from being a purely speculative contest,Co.Design be giving finalists and outstanding entries a spotlight on their site–highlighting the process and ingenuity, and hopefully giving more visibility. You’ll see these posts roll-out throughout the spring, in the run-up to the deadline.

Are you entering the Next Design Challenge? Here’s something to get your creative juices flowing: A look at great Porsche 911’s of the past and present. To get your process started, they  created a slideshow of famous Porsche designs. And if you want to find out more about the contest, you can click here.

The deadline for entries is April 6, 2012. We can’t wait to see what you come up with. Good luck!

There are thousands of design details that go into creating a Porsche. Each builds upon the rest, creating the car’s essence. Could you take one element of the iconic design to create a brand new thing that embodies what Porsche is, but in an entirely new outlet?
